( 3 / 73 )Deep in the heart of Texas hill country, this historical building shows glory from days gone by. As you look down the hallway, the view of the old staircase and balcony is breathtaking. The stairway was ordered by catalogue from Sears and Roebuck according to old timers. The staircase railing is 5 inches wide.
The porthole windows are almost 5 ft wide in diameter so regular plywood lumber of 48 inches wide would not do. We ordered special lumber from a cabinet maker that was 58 inches wide so the frame would be one piece of lumber.
Not wanting to cover the fabulous wood work around the windows, we mounted on the inside. Installation was easy because we used our miniature air compressor to climb 16 feet in the air and brad nail it straight into the trim. Other than the 16 foot high part..which was not so easy.

( 2.9 / 67 )This table runner has a distinctly Middle Eastern feel, and was a challenge to fabricate, due to the multitude of embellishment techniques used. A combination of Celtic appliqué and fusible appliqué, as well as beading and embroidery give this piece a great deal of interest. ½” bias strips of red dupioni silk were fused to a background of patterned fabric, after the layer of solid gold dupioni was applied. Hand embroidery, handmade buttons, and gold beads enhance the gold borders.

( 2.9 / 63 )Lined and interlined, board mounted. I used the face fabric from a ready made curtain – it had a great pattern. Found the coordinating fabric through Greenhouse. Ball fringe trim, self-welt, and buttons complete the look.
