Slipcovers
Therese Davis opened Sew Your Home in 2006, to create custom home furnishings directly for designers and the occasional retail customer. Therese grew up in Michigan where she learned to sew with her Grandmother by making Barbie doll dresses. Therese comes by sewing through a long line of hand-crafters that created things by necessity as they were living in the Appalachian mountains of Virginia and had limited access to store bought items. Therese received an A.A. in Fashion Merchandising from Northwood University in Midland, MI and a B.S. in Clothing & Textiles from Michigan State University. In the course of her diverse professional career she has developed an eye for fine detail (through work in tailoring and bridal fashions) as well as an expansive knowledge of construction and fabrication techniques (working in drapery workrooms). Therese lives in Barrington, Illinois, with her husband Mike and 2 boys, Owen and Zane. Like many of her peers, she opened her home workroom in order to be near her children and have an outlet for her creative energies.

Table Cover
This is a round fitted cover (railroaded fabric) with fitted topper. It was made with remnants, so there wasn’t enough fabric to match the seams, but the pattern is small enough that you don’t notice it. I was going for a Moroccan look with the shape. Adding tassels and beads brought it together.

This lovely customer was great to work for as she expressed appreciation for our hard work. Not everybody does that.
